St Michael’s Church - Highgate

Early September took the choir to the beautiful and famously-historic St Michael’s Church, Highgate. The wedding of Abigail Fowles and Nicholas Martin was another event that raised the feelgood factor. The quality of the singing was greatly enhanced by the wonderful acoustic of the church.

As the congregation departed the church, we were all surprised to find that they were being transported by two big red original Routemaster buses. A nice touch. The choir then spent the rest of the afternoon in the equally historic pub ‘The Flask’. It was pointed out to us that the basement table we were sat at, was where the grave-robbers used to bring the bodies from the nearby Highgate Cemetery for use in early Medical Research. ….A sobering thought.
